Erica Behling-Kelly
Associate Professor, North Carolina State University, USA
Dr. Behling-Kelly received her BS from the University of Illinois at Champaign-Urbana and DVM from the University of Georgia-Athens. She completed her PhD in Comparative Biomedical Sciences at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, studying the cellular mechanisms of bacterial meningitis. She studied atherosclerosis as post-doctoral fellow at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas. She completed her residency training in veterinary clinical pathology at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, became board-certified, and joined the faculty at Cornell University in 2011. She was promoted to associate professor with tenure in 2017 and served as director of the Clinical Pathology Laboratory from 2017-2023. Her research program while at Cornell had two main areas of emphasis: investigating the contributions of dyslipidemia and hemolysis to vascular pathology and thrombosis, and the molecular intersections of lipid metabolism and the immune system. She joined Ellie Diagnostics in October 2023 and was their Chief Medical Officer until July 2025. She returned to academia in August 2025, joining the faculty at North Carolina State University. She continues her work to understand how lipoproteins impact coagulation and the innate immune system across veterinary species.
