
FUNMILOLA CLARA THOMAS

Funmilola Clara Thomas is a Professor of Veterinary Biochemistry with over 20 years of university teaching experience. She obtained her doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from the Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, Nigeria, an MSc in Biochemistry from the University of Ibadan, Nigeria and PhD from the University of Glasgow, UK in 2015. She became a fellow of the college of Veterinary Surgeons Nigeria as a specialist in Veterinary Clinal Pathology in 2021.
Her research has focused on the use of protein assays and omics technologies for the diagnosis of animal diseases with a bias towards bovine mastitis for which she has several publications. Professor Thomas was a postdoctoral researcher at the University of Zagreb Croatia (2022-2023) where she undertook research under the EU project of the development of a rapid cow side test for the diagnosis of bovine mastitis. She has supervised numerous student projects and is passionate about excellence in veterinary research and education. She married with children and enjoys gardening and walking.
