
Osamu Yamato

Dr. Yamato has completed his PhD at Hokkaido University in 1994. He is Professor of Clinical Pathology, Joint Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, Kagoshima University. His specialty is veterinary clinical biochemistry and genetics. He found several novel compounds that cause onion- and garlic-induced hemolytic anemia in animals and then utilized aged garlic extract as supplements for canine health. He identified a number of causative mutations in a variety of genetic disorders in animals. He also conducted studies of animal clinical pathological biomarkers, including acute phase proteins. He has published 255 original papers and 230 papers are listed in PubMed so far.
