❓ Did you know
The Southern Lapwing is a bold and feisty bird you might spot in Curitiba’s parks! With a striking gray-brown body, black breast band, and crested head, it’s hard to miss. These fearless birds feed on insects and small aquatic creatures, and they’ll aggressively defend their nests – even swooping at humans! Their loud, shrill calls warn intruders and keep their territory safe. Adaptable and everywhere from wetlands to urban parks, the Southern Lapwing is truly a South American character.
