Prof. Mads Kjelgaard-Hansen, DVM, PhD is Senior Scientific Advisor at Ascendis Pharma and Affiliate Professor at the University of Copenhagen. He has contributed extensively to veterinary clinical pathology, focusing on acute phase proteins, assay validation, and laboratory quality assurance. Over more than two decades in academia, he has authored over 100 peer-reviewed publications and supported the development of early-career researchers through graduate, doctoral and postdoctoral training. He organized the 2014 ISACP Congress in Copenhagen and served as ISACP President from 2014–2016. In the pharmaceutical industry, Dr. Kjelgaard-Hansen worked with translational biomarker development and clinical assay implementation, and at Ascendis Pharma, he supports innovation in endocrinology and rare disease programs. He received the Heiner Sommer Prize in 2020 for lifetime contributions to animal clinical biochemistry and continues to contribute to the field through scientific collaboration and leadership. His work bridges academia and industry, advancing diagnostic science and therapeutic development.
